Sterile Processing Week, October 11 – 17, 2020.
The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) has served more than 30,000 Central Service professionals in the U.S. and abroad by providing educational and professional development opportunities for these professionals.
Central service technicians are important members of the health care team and are playing a critical role during the COVID19 pandemic. Not only are the technicians responsible for ensuring that equipment and instruments used during surgical procedures are properly decontaminated, cleaned, inspected, and sterilized prior to patient use, they are now responsible for sterilizing all personal protection equipment (PPE), N95 respirators, and COVID19 testing swabs.
