SPRINGFIELD – Representative Ryan Spain is pleased to announce that House Bill 1581 has been passed by the Illinois General Assembly last week after two years of extensive negotiation with the Illinois Senate. This bill will allow the creation of a United States Navy Submarine Veterans License Plate by the Illinois Secretary of State. The bill will allow a new option to be added to the choices of license plates for Illinois Veterans.
“The new category of license plate honors the service of Navy Submarine Veterans in the State of Illinois,” said Rep. Ryan Spain. “I would like to thank my constituent, Tom Kraus, who brought this idea to my office.”
“I proposed the idea of this bill for lifelong friends that were also submarine veterans like myself,” said Tom Kraus. “Submarine service is very unique and I appreciate the representation of our service.”
After signature by the Governor, Illinois Navy Submarine Veterans will be able to request this plate from the Illinois Secretary of State when choosing their license plate design.
