Deputy House Republican Leader Ryan Spain (R-73rd District) was recently presented with the 2024 Public Service Award by the Chicago and Downstate Illinois Roofing Contractors. Spain was honored in appreciation for his consumer advocacy to make construction and remodeling costs for existing buildings more cost-effective in the recently adopted statewide energy code.
“It’s an honor to receive this recognition,” said Spain. “Ensuring consumers and small businesses aren’t hit with exorbitant costs due to overregulation in our state codes is a no-brainer for me. I will continue to advocate for common sense policies like this and look forward to future opportunities to improve our regulatory process in Illinois.”
Spain is a member of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR), which reviews and approves or denies regulatory matters brought by state agencies to implement state policy as directed by state statute. As noted, the statewide energy code, which affects residential and commercial construction projects, was updated this year after a review by JCAR.
