State Representative Ryan Spain was recently appointed by House Republican Leader Tony McCombie to six Illinois House committees, two of which he will hold the role of Republican Spokesperson.
Representative Spain will be the Republican spokesperson and ranking member for the Illinois House’s Executive Committee and the House Ethics & Elections Committee. He will also serve on the House Appropriations – Health & Human Services, Financial Institutions & Licensing, Gaming, and Rules Committees. In addition to those appointments, Spain was named Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR), a bipartisan, bicameral legislative oversight committee.
In his role on JCAR, Rep. Spain will join 11 other legislators to help oversee the rule-making process by state agencies, making sure the rules abide by the original intent of legislators when laws are passed, adequately inform the General Assembly of how laws are implemented through agency rulemaking and help facilitate a public understanding of rules and regulations.
“JCAR is one of the only truly bipartisan, bicameral committees in the legislature. JCAR holds a critically important role in making sure the rules abide by the original legislative intent when the laws are passed,” said Rep. Spain. “This was an appointment which I sought out, knowing the importance of the work done by this committee and its role in maintaining proper checks and balances between these two coequal branches of state government.”
Representative Ryan Spain serves as State Representative of the 73rd District, which includes portions of Bureau, Henry, Lee, Marshall, Peoria, Rock Island, Stark, Whiteside, and Woodford counties.
