Pritzker Vetoes Bipartisan Measure to End Nuclear Moratorium

This spring, the legislature passed a historic and bipartisan measure co-sponsored by State Representative Ryan Spain to help meet energy demand in Illinois by ending the state’s moratorium on new nuclear plant construction. Last week, the Governor vetoed this bill which would have been a pathway to inexpensive, clean energy for our residents. Opting, once again, to put politics before the people of Illinois.

Rep. Spain called the decision a frustrating and unnecessary setback. The legislature does have the ability to override the Governor’s veto, which could happen during the fall Veto Session.
